Nothing hits harder during Ramadhan month, than quenching one’s lust for flavorful food. But where do we find such places to iftar in this busy city of Kota Kinabalu? We will take you on a joyride of Ramadhan nostalgia and surprise your palette with KK’s tasteful dishes of Malay “Kampung” cuisine with a creative blend of Asian fusion.
Watie is the brain behind the creative and colourful dishes at Asia Rasa Cafe. She decided to open Asia Rasa Cafe with the help of her family on October 17, 2011. Located at Karamunsing Capital, it is the ‘go-to’ place during office lunch hour where you will have trouble finding a table once the clock hits 12:00 pm.
Their major attraction in the restaurant is their ala kampung style hut buffet section serving an impressive variety of up to 50 and more affordable dishes. One of their famous dish is their Penyet menu with the options of fried chicken, grilled cuttlefish, or grilled prawn accompanied with sambal and a handful of side dishes such as tempeh, fried tofu, assorted vegetables, and crunchy papadom. You can also find other local signature dishes such as ambuyat (famous among Bruneians), served authentically with a variety of local sauces of your choice.
Be sure to book your ‘all you can eat’ Ramadhan buffet reservation at Asia Rasa Cafe during fasting month in advance!
