Enjoy Sabah’s delicious traditional food and be entertained by colourful cultural performances. That’s exactly what you’ll get when you dine in Beyond Native, which is located on the third floor of Aeropod Kota Kinabalu.
The restaurant is owned by Joyce Yong partnered with a husband and wife team, May Pang and Law Kim Tam. The three of them had the vision of promoting local traditional food with a twist of fusion ingredients to their dishes to suit all taste palates, hence calling their restaurant “Beyond Native”.

Beyond Native opened its doors in the middle of November 2019. The restaurant is decorated with traditional elements to create a “kampung” ambience. It is further complemented with interactive activities for guests to participate in such as stone painting and the traditional Murut blowpipe.
Their dishes are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are also served in a generous amount!

The Authentic Native Set: Pinasakan Ambuyat Set Meal (3-4 Pax)
Consists of Pinasakan basungan soup, traditional Ambuyat, bambangan salted egg fried chicken, deep fried basung fish, stir fried vegetable of the day with belacan, traditional side dishes includes hinava, bambangan, tuhau, acar, ulam-ulaman with sambal, desserts, and house drinks.
Buttermilk Chicken Hinopot Set
Buttermilk chicken, deep fried basung fish, hinopot, stir fried vegetable of the day, salted egg, traditional side dishes including hinava, tuhau and bambangan, bubur cha cha, and house drinks.
