Event Details
A memorial service is held annually at the Petagas Memorial Garden to commemorate those who fought and fell during World War II. This memorial park was erected in memory of those who died while defending Sabah against the Japanese during World War II. Led by Albert Kwok, the Kinabalu Guerrillas’ most infamous attack was the “Jesselton Revolt” or the “Double Tenth Revolt” on the eve of 10 Oct 1943. The memorial garden is built on the very spot where 176 of the Kinabalu Guerrillas were massacred on 21 January 1944.
