A total of 104 foodies participated in the FIRST Tamaha Food Race!
On 10 March, KK City and Penampang were conquered by orange food warriors! A total of 26 teams registered (including one from a Japanese travel agency), and were given 12 food challenges from pit stops located all over Kota Kinabalu and Penampang.
Organised by Sri Pelancongan Sabah and Sabah Tourism Board. The event was held in conjunction with the 100-Year Celebration of the Sabah Tourism Building. The event was flagged off by YB Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, the Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board, at 9:00am. Also present were Suzaini Ghani, the General Manager of Sabah Tourism Board and Zachary Mobijohn, the General Manager of Sri Pelancongan Sabah Sdn Bhd.
The participants were seen going around the city in search of clues and challenges leading to local food outlets and judged based on food challenges, Instagram posts, and check-ins on Instagram during the race.
Challenges include eating a variety of local and international dishes literally defining the term, ‘tamaha’ which means ‘greedy’ in the Sabahan dialect. Time penalties were given to participants who failed to meet the challenges.
A special thank you to UBER as the Official Ride for the event, 2more as the Official Drinks sponsor, and ASK Creative as the Official Apparel sponsor.
See you guys in TAMAHA 2.0!
