On 31st August 1957, the Federation of Malaya States gained its independence from the British. Hence, this day is known as ‘Hari Merdeka’ or Independence Day. At the Sabah state level, a colourful parade will be held in downtown Kota Kinabalu City to celebrate the National Day. Selamat Hari Merdeka!
