Upgrade your survival skill to Advanced level! North Star Borneo’s Survival Training (Advanced) is part of their Emergency Preparedness range of courses. This training is a progressive course, starting from their basic survival training.

Location
Kiulu is situated in the Tamparuli district and is 47.7 kilometres away from the State capital of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu. The word ‘Kiulu’ was actually derived from a plant that is called ‘Tulu’, which is a small bamboo plant that grows on the river bank.

Day 1
09:00 : Expected to arrive at the base camp

08:00 : Jungle ‘shopping’ (Identify edible or poisonous plant)

13:30 : Learn how to make animal traps and fish trap

Day 3

Instructors will be monitor all the activities which includes:
* Make your own shelter
* Collecting wood/firewood
* Make your own fire
* Set up fish trap
* Bamboo cooking
* Overnight in shelter
You will be at the survival site through out the day
Lunch & Dinner : Prepare by own
Day 4
Breakfast : Cook your own breakfast
* Find your own food and cook (Tapioca and sweet potato will be provided by our instructor)
* Training done
09:00 : Basic knots and basic first aid
10:00 : Basic signalling technique
12:30 : Lunch
14:00 : Trekking back to main road
End of training
You will be camping at their survival site through out the whole training. Additional camping equipment is available for rent.
As part of the survival training, you will be preparing your own food at the camp or survival site. While meals can be arranged for an additional cost, North Star Borneo recommends bringing your own food.
During lunch or while you are resting, you can enjoy the view and go sight-seeing around the camp site.

Arrival by flights
You can fly to Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) direct from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Labuan, Sandakan or Tawau.
Arrival by land
You can travel to Kota Kinabalu by Taxi from Kota Kinabalu International Airport (approx. 14 minutes) and by Bus from Sandakan (approx. 6 hours), from Tawau (approx. 8 hours).
In lieu of the Covid-19 pandemic, you can opt to postpone your trip once it is safe to travel again. Kindly contact the property owner for more information.
