Location
Sandakan is the second largest city located on the east coast of Sabah. Sandakan is well known as the gateway for ecotourism destinations where fauna, flora and cultural heritage are the main attractions.
Semporna is the gateway to diving in world-renowned island paradises like Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking, Sibuan, Mantabuan, Siamil and Pom Pom among others. Visitors to Semporna are mainly sunseekers looking for relaxation or watersports activities such as scuba diving or snorkelling.
Itinerary
Day 1
PM: Arrive at Sandakan Airport, sightseeing tours (temple, church, water village)
Day 2
AM: Sepilok Orang Utan and Bornean Sun Bear Tour
PM: Kinabatangan River Cruise
Day 3
AM: Morning cruise, jungle trekking
PM: Kinabatangan River Cruise
Day 4
AM: Depart Bilit and drive overland to Semporna
PM: Check in to island resort, unlimited swimming and snorkeling at the resort area
Day 5
AM: Full day island hopping (Bohey Dulang, Matabuan, and Sibuan)
Day 6
AM: Free day until departure transfer to Tawau Airport

Day 1: Sepilok Jungle Resort
Just five minutes walk to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, Sepilok Jungle Resort offers comfortable lodging for visitors around the world to get close but un-intrusive glimpse of this nature paradise.
Day 2 and Day 3: Bilit Adventure Lodge
Bilit Adventure Lodge is located at Kampung Bilit, Kinabatangan River. It is about 2.5 hours drive from Sandakan Town and about two hours drive from Sepilok Jungle Resort. or about 30 minutes drive from Gomantong Cave.
Day 4 to Day 6: Island Resort or Homestay (based on availability).

In the jungle, you will be able to see some wildlife around the lodge. Feel free to take photos. However, you are not encouraged to feed the birds, squirrel, monkeys and even orang utan if you happen to see them.
At the islands, you can spend your free time swimming, snorkelling, and enjoy some water sport activities.

To Sandakan
Arrival by flight
You can fly to Sandakan Airport (SDK) direct from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu or Tawau.
Arrival by land
You can travel to Sandakan by express bus from Kota Kinabalu (approx. 6 hours), Lahad Datu (approx. 4 hours), Tawau (approx. 5 hours) and Semporna (approx. 5 hours).
From Tawau
Departure by flight
You can depart from Tawau Airport (TWU) direct to Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan.
Departure by land
You can travel from Tawau by express bus to Kota Kinabalu (approx. 7 hours) and Sandakan (approx. 5 hours).
